This is a Women's Climbing Mentorship Group
event. This is a Women's Climbing Mentorship
Group trip, priority to women & group
participants. The purpose of this group is for
women to have the opportunity to learn in an
environment where they are not the minority and
can expect supportive coaching. We've booked 8
beds at Athabasca Falls Hostel
to take on a nice 3-day weekend of (likely)
rambly (i.e. WI2/3) ice climbing in the Jasper
area. We have booked with the intention of
taking Monday off to make the long drive more
worth it. Friday climbing will be an option as
well for those able to leave in the AM (highly
recommended). Specific destinations will be
chosen based on participants' abilities. This
would be a less appropriate trip if you are a
total beginner, but very appropriate for
competent followers and fledgeling leaders. If
in doubt, please email. Preference to those who
have attended previous WMG trips. Carpooling
determined based on participants.
Required Items to Bring:
Crampon-compatible boots (ski boots work), ice
crampons*, ice tools*, harness, helmet, belay
device, personal anchor (or 2), goggles/glasses
for face protection, gloves (multiple), warm
layers etc. *you may be able to borrow or rent
these if you don't own them...
Recommended Items to Bring:
thermos, hand warmers, screws, draws, screamers,
ropes
Waiver: Everyone attending this event will be required to sign the
ACC Waiver
at the beginning of the event. Read the waiver carefully to ensure you fully
understand it. If possible, please print and fill it out except for
the signature fields before arriving at the event.
*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
