Itinerary:

Asulkan is the premier hut for skiing in Rogers Pass and this trip promises to be a fantastic early season trip.

Get up to the hut as early as possible. Promptly drop the big packs and head off skiing for the afternoon. The following day will be filled with (fingers crossed) plenty of great early season powder skiing until Sunday comes and we all go home with big smiles on our faces. This is an early season trip and we will move at a comfortable pace, no race to the top, rather steady, safe and fun!

To maximize our time up top, the preference would be to meet as a group at the Rogers Pass Visitor Centre Friday morning by 9 am. Alternatively, overnight at Wheeler Hut Thursday night, up and going to Asulkan Friday morning. We can discuss as a group.

There are two Calgary Section trips with five spots booked for this weekend. We may collaborate on objectives.

Don't forget to secure your Rogers Pass Winter Permit in advance.

The trip is 2 nights at Asulkan Cabin. The cost is $99 per person, including wilderness passes. Invoice 349224, combo 2264.

Please wait until after the coordinator has responded to you with regards to your eligibility to pay for the trip. Payment can be made with the Paypal button below.  Please forward your receipt to the trip coordinator after you pay and they will add you. There are no refunds for cancellations by participants unless the participant finds a suitable replacement.

Notes:

If you are interested please sign up and send an email to me with your experience level, including your fitness level, ski ability and avalanche/crevasse rescue knowledge. The trip traverses serious glacier and complex avalanche terrain and it is highly recommended participants have AST 2, first aid and crevasse rescue. Please be somewhat specific in your response with regards to your ability: i.e. “I have taken AST 1, get out 5 times per year, typically ski 750m a day. For downhill ability, I find diamonds relatively tough and like to take my time. I just took crevasse rescue this year, but haven’t touched a rope since” or “I’ve been to this specific area 10x in the past two years. I get out 50+ days a year, have taken AST 2 and more, typically ski 2000m a day, love to charge double diamonds at the ski hill, and can pull someone out of a crevasse in under 30 minutes solo.”

*Please note: 10$ of the trip fee is going to support trip leader training within the club. Why? Because we have lots of demand for trips and need more good trip leaders to fill the demand. We hope you will support this initiative.

Cancellation/Partial Attendance:
Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!

*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
