Itinerary:
Cost for this event is $264 per person including one day of ice climbing with a 3:1 participant to guide ratio. Also included is one night accommodation at the Lake Louise HI hostel. This mentorship event is part of the AMP (Alpine Mentorship Program) organized by ACC Calgary section jointly with ACMG Guide Brent Peters. The event will be taught by Brent Peters. This is an event where it all comes together! You will be putting into action all the skills you've learned in previous courses. You will be climbing and leading on a multi pitch steep ice route. The skills that will be honed include; leading on steep ice, placing ice screws while managing the pump, building anchors, belaying up the second and group/rope management between pitches. The route objective will be Guinness Gully, a classic 3 pitch ice route near Field BC. Brent will provide mentoring and technique guidance as needed. He will make sure you are safe, on the right track and provide techniques to manage the pump. For this event, you must be able to comfortably lead WI3 and have started to lead WI4 but you may just lack some of that final confidence needed. You have good understanding of anchor building on ice and rappelling. All those skills will be reinforced during the climb.
