It has been my custom to scramble up a mountain
before the big feast and thus I am once again
asking anyone that is keen for some exercise and
a fun outing to join me on that day.
We will have to see what the snow and weather
conditions are before we determine which
mountain gets climbed. The range of peaks
available is numerous and if snow conditions
allow, we could tramp up the Opal Ridge, head up
EOR, or just hike up Lady Macdonald or do the
Heart Mountain Traverse. If it is really rotten
out there we would simply hike up Cox Hill, do
Prairie or head up To Yam Shoulder and see how
far the trail takes us beyond there. We
should be back in good time to be washed up and
ready to embark on any Christmas like
festivities.
If we have a big group, it will be easier to
break trail if need be.
This year let us add to the Christmas cheer by
decorating a tree up near treeline and if we all
bring a few ornaments with us it should come off
pretty well and we can take some nice photos for
next years photo contest, so let's have some fun
out there together.
Required Items to Bring:
Warm and layered clothing, ice axe and crampons
or ice walkers for icy sections, dependant on
our objective, thermos for a warm drink,
gaiters, and ski pole, extra gloves and mitts,
ski goggles if it's blustery out.
Recommended Items to Bring:
Strong legs, some Christmas cheer, mulled wine, a
Santa hat, and ornaments.
Waiver: Everyone attending this event will be required to sign the
ACC Waiver
at the beginning of the event. Read the waiver carefully to ensure you fully
understand it. If possible, please print and fill it out except for
the signature fields before arriving at the event.
*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
Trip Feedback If you have any feedback, positive or negative, concerning this trip or any other, we want to hear from you!
Click here to be directed to our "Contact Us" page and contact the appropriate Chair person or the Section Chair. This is also a simple way to make your section executive aware of any praises, suggestions or problems you may have with any area of the Calgary Section of the ACC.
