This mentorship event is part of the AMP (Alpine Mentorship Program) organized by ACC Calgary section jointly with ACMG Guide Brent Peters.

Have you been trying to make the transition into outdoor sport climbing? Do you want to learn to lead and safely belay your friend? If so, this event is for you!

Cost: $97

This Alpine Mentorship Event is called pre-AMP because it is for people new to outdoor sport climbing. The only pre- requisite is that you have done some climbing and leading in the gym up to 5.8. This 1-day event will allow you to safely transition to outdoor leading. The course will cover lead climbing, lead belaying, efficient clipping and unclipping.

 

Because this event is for beginners we will not be screening participants. Whoever pays first, gets to go. Process to sign up is as follows:

  • Put your name on the waitlist.  
  • Send an e-Transfer payment to the Treasurer at treasurer AMP@accc algary.ca
  • Also send to the treasurer the following information: Name, Full address including postal code, phone number, email, course/event title and date, Trip Leader/Coordinator, and the password to accept payment.
  • Email the e-Transfer to the trip coordinator – Jenny Bradshaw – drjennybra dshaw@g mail.com. Once I have confirmation from you that you have paid, I will move you from the waiting to the attendee list.

Gear required:

The club will provide ropes. You need your personal gear: Harness, rock shoes, chalk bag, belay device, draws, anchor, long sling or personal anchor, 2 lockers.


Recommended Items to Bring:

Snacks, lunch, warm layers, windproof/waterproof coat, hat, sunscreen.

*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
