This trip is specifically for people who are
looking to push their redpoint grade sport
climbing. Top-roping is not allowed,
unless you
need to do it to safely work the moves on your
project... although in that case, you should
probably be picking a different project.
Also, unlike most ACC events, you will be taking
many lead falls. As such, you must:
- Be able to provide a safe catch to a lead
climber
- Take lead falls safely (don't get the rope
behind your leg!)
- Bring your own rope. You will trust it more.
club ropes will not be available.
In this series, you will pick a climb that is a
full number grade above your current onsight
level. You will give that climb 2 to 4 tries each
time we go and climb almost nothing else (except
a warm-up or two.)
During the first few attempts, you will be hang-
dogging and learning the moves on your project.
This will likely take one or two evenings. After
you know the moves, you should lower to the
ground after a fall and rest before trying again
ground-up.
If you cannot figure out the moves in the first
few sessions, pick an easier climb. If you get
your project early, start a new one.
There will be 8 midweek evening sessions. You are
welcome to work your projects outside these
events as well.
The first 4 will be at Grassi Lakes, and
the next 4 at Prairie Creek.
