The entire Lightning Strike Cabin in Kootenay
Pass is
booked for a week in February ($10 / per person /
per night
for the cabin). This area offers great access at
altitude to
both simple, challenging and complex backcountry
terrain...
with a range of great choices for most avalanche
conditions. The last time I stayed in the area I
skied with
blower powder flying over my shoulders. We will
carpool out
the morning of Feb 17 for the 6-7 hour drive,
park at
Kootenay Pass, and then skin up to the cabin with
our
supplies. The Cabin is 3.3 km or about 90 minutes
from
where we park.
When you register please indicate the AST
course(s) you
have taken, years of backcountry experience, and
highest
difficulty level at the resort that you are
comfortable skiing.
Once you are moved off the waiting list, you will
have 48
hours to transfer $70 by email to
thomas.n.mcmillan@gmail.com to hold your spot.
Sleeping bag, hut booties, technical clothing,
hut clothing,
food, avi gear, 1 green propane cylinder,
toiletries, etc. A
more extensive gear list will be provided closer
to the date
and food preparation will be coordinated between
participants.
