Itinerary:

The trip is 2 nights at Peyto Hut. Dates are May 4-5-6. The cost is $65 per person, not including wilderness passes, which you must purchase separately. Peyto Hut is a great area with some cool skiing and this trip promises to be a fantastic trip.

Once the coordinator has responded to you with regards to your eligibility for the trip you can secure a spot by sending your payment (via e- transfer) to the Treasurer (treasurer@acccalgary.ca) along with the following information:

  • Name,
  • Full Address with postal code,
  • phone number,
  • email,
  • event title and date, trip leader/coordinator and the password to accept the payment.
These details assist the bookkeeper in sending out receipts for payments. Once I have confirmation from the Treasurer that you have paid your deposit, I will move you from the waiting to the attendee list. The easiest way to send payment is via e- transfer.

Objectives: Ski and climb nearby peaks(conditions depend). North bowl of Mt habel, Mt rhondda, Mt thompson, Mt baker, trapper peak, peyto peak, Mistaya, are some of the options we would be looking at. This trip requires people to have strong skills in crevasse rescue as we will be primarily on a glacier, avalanche rescue and assessment, some objectives are in complex terrain, and good physical fitness as we will be carrying moderate to heavy packs to get to the hut.

Required Items to Bring:
Ski touring kit, glacier kit, food, etc. A more specific gear list can be obtained from the trip coordinator(s).

How to Get There:
Carpool Departure Time:
Carpool Location:   Our Lady of the Assumption School Parking Lot
Carpool Directions:   Google it.

Notes:
If you are interested please sign up and send an email to the trip coordinator(s) with your experience level, including your fitness level, ski ability and avalanche/crevasse rescue knowledge. The trip traverses serious complex avalanche and glacier terrain and it is highly recommended participants have AST 2, first aid and crevasse rescue. Please be somewhat specific in your response with regards to your ability: i.e. “I have taken AST 1, get out 5 times per year, typically ski 750m a day. For downhill ability, I find diamonds relatively tough and like to take my time. I just took crevasse rescue this year, but haven’t touched a rope since” or “I’ve been to this specific area 10x in the past two years. I get out 50+ days a year, have taken AST 2 and more, typically ski 2000m a day, love to charge double diamonds at the ski hill, and can pull someone out of a crevasse in under 30 minutes solo.”

Cancellation/Partial Attendance:
Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!

There are no refunds for cancellations by participants unless the participant finds a suitable replacement.
*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
