Itinerary: |
TIME CHANGE TO 4:30 IN THE AFTERNOON.
Come out and practice Crevasse Rescue skills
before winter.
This is NOT a course, just a practice session.
If
you forget steps we can work through them as a
group, but this event is for people who already
have taken a course and are familiar with
Crevasse
rescue systems.
If you have it, please bring something heavy to
use as your "victim"
|
Required Items to Bring: |
Bring everything you need to practice (minus
ice screws or ice axes). Bring your rope.
Ideally we'd have 1 rope for
every 2-3 people.
You will need locking biners, prussic cords,
harness, slings, pulley etc. There should be
one "victim" per group. Spare tires work well-
really anything heavy that can be tied to a
rope will work. It is difficult to practice
with no weight on the rope.
|
|
Recommended Items to Bring: |
HEADLAMPS. It is dark early and it is hard to
rescue people when you can't see them.
If anyone has a lantern, that would be great.
(Last year we did this just with headlamps and
it worked fine too)

Cancellation/Partial Attendance: Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
