Trip Details:
This mentorship event is part of the AMP (Alpine Mentorship) program organized by the ACC Calgary Alpine Chair jointly with ACMG Guide Brent Peters. A hostel based trip out of Golden BC.

The goal is to learn, plan, and execute day trips in Rogers Pass. There is significant pre-trip study required – specifically you will prepare a day trip plan for Rogers Pass, and provide feedback on plans made by other participants. By night, we will meet to check conditions, choose a plan, and study its details. By day, we’ll take turns leading the group through the objective (set up-track, make safe terrain choices, keep the group safe and together, choose ski lines, select safe re-group locations etc).

Cost: $376 (includes hostel fees).

Pre-Trip:
Each participant will prepare and submit a trip plan (format provided) for an assigned/suggested RP objective by Jan 12. Once complete, plans will be circulated to all participants for review.

Trip Weekend:
Depart Friday 1pm from carpool. Planning session at hotel from 6-8pm to review ski conditions, present/review plans, and select plan for Saturday. All participants prepare to lead selected trip.
Saturday – Ski, lead, follow. After dinner, meet in hotel from 6-8pm to review notes from the day, and select day 2 objective (based on conditions). All participants prepare to lead the trip.
Sunday – Ski, lead, review. Return to Calgary

Prerequisites:
You have done more than 10 backcountry ski trips and are comfortable skiing complex terrain (trees). You want to learn more about Rogers Pass terrain - maybe you have skied there, but want to become much more familiar with day trip terrain. You have completed AST1 and/or AST2, and have taken a crevasse rescue course. You are committed to some prep work to prepare (and revise) a trip plan, and study/review all other plans circulated to you PRIOR to the weekend. You can comfortably ascend 1200m in a day.

Send an email with your experience to Brad Bowyer - bbowyer@gmail.com. Once you have been accepted you will be required to pay within 48 hours via an e-Transfer payment to the Treasurer. Also send to the treasurer the following information: Name, Full address including postal code, phone number, email, course/event title and date, Trip Leader/Coordinator, and the password to accept payment. Once I have confirmation from you that you have paid, I will move you from the waiting to the attendee list.
Required Items to Bring:
Ski touring kit (beacon, shovel, probe), glacier travel kit, food, etc.

Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!

There will be no refunds for this event unless a suitable replacement is found that has been accepted by the event organizer.
*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons.
