Itinerary:
This 2 day Ski Mountaineering Course will be offered by ACMG Mountain Guide Cyril Shokoples. The focus of this course will be learning the basics of safe Ski Mountaineering with a curriculum focused on trip & objective planning, climbing technique for ski mountaineering, navigation, route finding, decision making and track setting. This is meant to be a very hands on course with lots of climbs and tours to put skills into practice! Required Items to Bring:
A detailed gear list will be provided by Cyril to those chosen for the course the week before the course.

Recommended Items to Bring:
Those who may need to borrow/buy gear should expect to require at least the following: Light Harness, carabiners (min. 3 lockers & 3 non- lockers, 2 x 5m lengths of 6mm or 7mm cord, 1 short 1.5m “personal prussic”, ice axe, a small light weight pulley is optional, boot crampons and ski crampons likely required, beacon/probe/shovel **Ropes will be provided for this course.

Notes:
This will not be an introductory course. Basic mountaineering/glacier travel, crevasse rescue and avalanche training (at least AST1) are prerequisites for this course. These courses are offered separately by the Section. These skills will be reviewed, but recent mountaineering training/experience and backcountry ski experience are prerequisites for participation. Participants should also be at least strong intermediate skiers able to ski in varying terrain and snow conditions. Participants should add themselves to the waitlist, email the course organizers to confirm that they meet the prerequisites, will then be moved from the waitlist to participants list at which point they will be required to pay the course fee to confirm their participation. Please do not pay the fee before getting your spot confirmed. To pay, send an INTERAC e-Transfer to the ACC Treasurer using the Treasurer@ACCCalgary.ca email address. Please also send the e-Transfer password to the treasurer in a seperate email ****and a payment confirmation email to the trip coordinators****

*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
