Itinerary:
Burn off some turkey calories on Thanksgiving this year! Mount Burke, in Kananaskis, is a 900m gain/13 km return hike/scramble. The Cameron Fire Lookout sits at the top to provide some shelter for a nice lunch spot! (Leftover turkey?) Speed demons need not apply. Lots of time for breaks and photo-ops. Be prepared for late season conditions and perhaps some snow. See you there! http://www.trailpeak.com/trail-Mt-Burke-near- Longview-AB-5406
Required Items to Bring:
Food, water, bear spray, warm layers

Recommended Items to Bring:
Poles, gaiters, micro-spikes

How to Get There:
Event Directions:   From TransCanada Highway (#1) head south on Kananaskis Trail Highway (#40) to Highwood Junction #940 (Note: From Dec. 1 - Jun. 15 the highway south of Grizzly Creek is closed). Head south on 940 (gravel road) to Cataract Creek Campground (13 km). Until early October you can access the campground directly and park right at the start of the trailhead. Later in the fall there is parking and washrooms provided on the east side of 940 right at the start of the Cataract Creek Campground Road. This will add approximately another 1.2 km and about 30 minutes to your day.
Carpool Departure Time:   08:00 AM
Carpool Location:   Somerset-Bridlewood Station

*This trip may be cancelled in the event of poor weather.

If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
