This trip is for Over-55s Only!
We hike up a trail on the edge of a spectacular gully to a viewpoint overlooking the Bow Valley. From there the trail becomes less distinct with some easy scrambling. We reach the summit ridge a little way east of the high point of Grotto. We traverse west along the ridge (a spectacular ridge walk) and eventually drop down onto the trail that descends to the ACC Clubhouse.
Statistics: Lots of elevation gain on this trip - almost 1,600 vertical metres! The total horizontal distance is about 10 kms. The trip will take up to 10 hours.
Pace: We'll go at a steady pace (no sprinters allowed). We'll have a number of stops - but don't expect to loll around for an hour or two at a rest stop. There's lots of elevation to cover and we can't afford to hang around too much.
Car Shuttle: I'll park a second vehicle at the Clubhouse so that we can get back to the start without hiking 5 kms along the road!
