Itinerary:
The Real Outdoor Climbing Knowledge Introductory Training (ROCK IT) program is for all people new to rock climbing or for people who need a refresher from scratch. No previous experience in any climbing activity is required. ROCK IT is not a training program for your physical strength, but we will set you up with the technical knowledge necessary to take part on other Section trips posted on the trip schedule throughout the summer like the weekly Rock Rage, as well as other ACC day and weekend trips. The ultimate goal of the program is to take participants from the beginner level to self sufficient climbers who can climb on their own and be safe and competent climbing partners. All of the sessions will be posted on the club calendar, so keep an eye out for them. The fourth session is where you put everything you've learned together! We will expect our participants to run the show from the moment we arrive at the Wasootch parking lot. We are looking for participants to: -Use a guidebook and topo to identify the location at which to set up a top rope -Set up an anchor and top rope -Demonstrate proper belay technique with their partner -Clean anchors and rappel back to the ground afterwards We will also set up a couple of extra ropes for participants to practice their climbing technique while they wait to set up a top-rope. I will be working on compiling a list of areas that can be used for top-ropes. However, you can also always go out with Rock Rage or try to go out on another ACC trip to practice as well. We've already seen some of you out and about on your own, but if you're feeling rusty you can review some of the video's we've sent previously or even do some reading online. You will require gear for belaying, climbing, setting anchors and rappelling. We also will need approximately 1 rope per 3 or 4 people, so please bring a rope if you have one. The carpool will leave the recycling bins at 5PM sharp!
Required Items to Bring:
-Climbing shoes -Helmet -Harness -belay/rappel device -anchor package (lockers/biners and sling) -self belay sling/Personal anchor -prussic cord/hollow block -rope, appropriate clothing.

Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!

*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons.
