Itinerary:
Assuming the weather is favourable and the snow has cleared enough, looking to leave after work on Friday and start scrambling Sparrowhawk. We'll scramble 1/2 or 2/3 of the way up, camp, and continue on in the early morning for an awesome sunrise! Scramble down for a before noon return. Speed demons need not apply. I fear I may move at too slow a pace for those folk. You'll need an AB Parks backcountry camping permit to do this and you'll need to prove you've purchased one before we head out. Distance: 10 km round trip, Gain: ~1400 m Easy/Moderate scramble http://www.trailpeak.com/trail-Mount- Sparrowhawk-near-Canmore-AB-11160
Required Items to Bring:
Tent, poles, bear spray, helmet, sleeping bag, warm clothing (layers/rain gear)

Recommended Items to Bring:
Micro-spikes, gaiters, GPS

How to Get There:
Event Directions:   From Canmore follow the signs to the Canmore Nordic Centre, up the hill. From the Nordic Centre turn off, reset your odometer to 0 and travel 22.7km along the Smith-Dorrien/Spray Lakes gravel road and park in the Sparrowhawk day-use area on the right. The trailhead is just across the road from the parking lot. You will see a well-trod trail (just north of the creek) leading uphill into the forest, though there is no "official" trailhead or signage for this hike.

Cancellation/Partial Attendance:
Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!

Cancellation Policy
If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
