Itinerary:

Would you like to build your anchor knowledge & skill so you can confidently build solid anchors in the field? Come out and practice anchor building Monday night!

This event is inspired by the Women's Mentoring group, but participants of all genders are welcome.

Susan is a self-professed nerd for all things anchor, including equalizing, materials, and loading.

This session will focus on the following:

  • EARNEST (Equalizing, Angles Appropriate, Redundant, Non- Extending, Strong, and Timely), and how to balance these desirable anchor characteristics. There is almost always trade-offs to be made.
  • Basic anchor building (e.g. two bolts)
  • More complicated arrangements (e.g 3+ "equalized" pieces, considering upward pull)
  • Limitations & how to choose what kind of anchor technique is appropriate
  • Basics of the materials (e.g. spectra, cordalette, dynamic vs static, etc)

After a group discussion, we will move on to hands on anchor building practice.

Required Items to Bring:
Harness, anchor building items (biners, slings, cordelette, etc), appropriate clothing for an evening outdoors in May.

Recommended Items to Bring:
