Itinerary: |
Let's join the Friends of Kananaskis for their annual Highway
40 clean up! This year, we're going from Highway South to
Galatea Day Use Parking (32 km). The clean-up is sponsored
by Alberta Transportation and brought forward to the ACC by
the Access and Environment Committee. This event is great for
families who can walk 3 km comfortably, we leave it to your
discretion whether your child is old enough to join. No pets
allowed. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Vince
(preferably through email: vinzafy@gmail.com)
There are two ways to sign up for the event.
(1) The usual way here on the ACC calendar. Vince
will pass
your information on to Nancy (co-ordinator for the Friends) and
you'll be placed on the volunteer list.
(2) Through the Friends of Kananaskis volunteer
system —
Better Impact. If you plan on volunteering for trail building or
maintenance days in the future, please sign up through Better
Impact! To do this, visit the website Better Impact and
click
on the "Fill in an application" on the "I would like to volunteer"
box at the top right of the page. Should be straightforward
from there!
Note: If you sign up on here AND on Better Impact, please let
us know either through a note in your registration, or by
sending Vince an email (vinzafy@gmail.com) so your name
doesn't get passed on twice. Much appreciated!
We'll be meeting in the Stoney Nakoda Casino parking lot at
9:00 AM. From there, we'll be partnered and transported to a
section of road we're responsible for. Once that section is
completed, pairs will be transported to the next stretch further
down, so on and so forth until we reach the Galatea Day Use
lot. If you wish to
be partnered with a specific person or with ACC members,
please travel together or find them in the parking lot before
hand as we'll be working together with the Friends of
Kananaskis volunteers.

not mind getting dirty, long pants are strongly recommended
and bring rain gear. Pack your lunch, water, sunscreen, bug
spray, bear spray, and other personal gear.
|
|
How to Get There: |
Event Directions: |
|
Head west along Highway 1 until you reach the Highway 40
turnoff. Take a left onto Highway 40 and another left at the
Casino Entrance (~ 650 m) and meet us in the parking lot!

Notes: |
Please register here or through the Friends of Kananaskis
Volunteer Portal (Better Impact) if you wish
to
volunteer with the Friends more down the road for projects
such as trail maintenance and trail building. Some of these
projects will be posted here on the calendar, but for a full list of
projects, visit the website
Kananaskis.org
and look at the Volunteer Projects Calendar or sign up to the
newsletter to be notified by email.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Cancellation/Partial Attendance: Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.

Trip Feedback
If you have any feedback, positive or negative, concerning this trip or any other, we want to hear from you! You can send any feedback you may have to the Section Chair.
