Please be prepared to share your thoughts on avalanche conditions and terrain selection.

Required Items to Bring:
The usual gear is required: touring skis or split board, skins and poles, avalanche beacon (2 or preferably 3 antennae), probe and shovel, and of course layers of warm clothing, lunch and water.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:   Meet at carpool.
Carpool Departure Time:   07:00 AM
Carpool Location:   West Valley Carpool Parking Lot, Calgary
Carpool Directions:   Meet Sunday at 7:00 am at the West Valley carpool parking lot, SW of Hwy#1 and Stony Trail intersection (where the recycle bins used to be, that is, leaving town west on Hwy #1 take the Valley Ridge turn-off and go south under the highway, then go 100 m east of the Victory Church on the West Valley road).

Notes:
This trip was originally posted for March 19 but was cancelled due to extreme avy hazard.

Party size has been increased from 4-6 to 4-10 due to member interest.

Ascending from below Tryst Lake there is an avalanche path on climber's right to negotiate.

Google maps street-view link below shows the view from the highway of the drainage entrance to the Tryst Lake valley, also showing the avalanche path on climber's right; "The Fist" peak is in the background:

For interest, the mountain info network (MIN) has a picture with the runs (chutes) to the left above the lake, while showing to the right, an avalanche beneath "The Fist" on March 5. The ski runs to the climber's left avoid that overhead hazard. The MIN link is:
