The Rogers Pass huts are fully booked for that weekend, so this will be motel based trip out of Golden. Let the ACC hut dwellers suffer overcrowding, sleep deprivation, lack of privacy and basic amenities while we stay in warm rooms, have morning coffee at the coffee shop and relax in saltwater pool, hot tub or sauna after skiing…
2 nights and 2 rooms with 2 queen beds each are already booked at Travelodge. The cost (taxes included) is $52/person/night. Breakfast is included.
We will meet on Friday April 7 @ 4pm at Our Lady of the Assumption School parking lot and drive to Golden. The next morning we will drive to Rogers Pass where we will check the current avi conditions at the Information Centre. Based on that info we will decide the objectives for the next 2 days. You need min. AST1 and be comfortable skiing black diamond runs at the ski resorts. If we haven't skied together before, please send me a brief note with your skiing/backcountry experience, avi courses completed & your beacon make/model. Pls. make sure your fitness level is adequate as some tours in RP can be 6 hrs. long with 1500m+ elevation gain.
An update: Due to the higher than anticipated interest in this trip, I’ve asked Brad to be the co-leader. Brad graciously accepted. In RP we may split into two groups with separate objectives depending on interests, abilities, and snow/weather conditions.
I need a firm commitment you plan to attend as there are cancellation charges if you sign up but cancel within the motel's 2 day cancellation policy.
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
Trip Feedback If you have any feedback, positive or negative, concerning this trip or any other, we want to hear from you! You can send any feedback you may have to the Section Chair.
