Itinerary: |
This event is organized under the Alpine
Mentorship Program (AMP) that will be run over
the next year. The goal of the AMP program is to
develop stronger mountaineering base of trip
leaders and participants in the Alpine Club.
Since this is a mentorship event, participants
are expected to make decisions and actively
participate in trip organization. Participants
will be mentored by Brent Peters, ACMG guide.
For more details on the AMP program refer to
the ACC site http://www.acccalgary.ca/alpine-
mentorship-program/
This event is for Level 1 and 2 and will focus on managing both avalanche and
glaciated terrain. Participants should have an AST1. We will review glacier rope systems and
crevasse rescue for ski mountaineering. By the end of this course, participants should have a
better understanding of the rope skills for ski mountaineering and how to determine if slopes in
the backcountry are skiable. There will be a trip planning session before we head out. Information on this meeting will be forwarded to trip participants.
The cost of event is $340 per person based on
a 7:1 ratio with the guide. The cost includes
hut fee. You will need to purchase your own
wilderness pass.
When you sign up please email me your previous
ski and mountain experience. Once you have been accepted you will be requested to make payment to the treasurer.

Fee is non-refundable but if there is enough
interest you might be able to find a replacement
to take your spot.
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
