This event is organized under the Alpine
Mentorship Program (AMP) that will be run over
the next year. The goal of the AMP program is to
develop stronger mountaineering base of trip
leaders and participants in the Alpine Club.
Since this is a mentorship event, participants
are expected to make decisions and actively
participate in trip organization. Participants
will be mentored by Brent Peters, ACMG guide.
For more details on the AMP program refer to
the ACC site http://www.acccalgary.ca/alpine-
mentorship-program/
This event will focus on managing both
avalanche and glaciated terrain. Participants
should have AST2 and an understanding of glacier
rope systems. We will focus on decision making in
challenging and complex terrain. By the end of
this course, participants will have a better
understanding of how to decide what slopes to
ski, when to take the rope off, and navigation in
complex terrain.
The cost of event is $465 per person based on
a 5:1 ratio with the guide. The cost includes $60
hut fee. You will need to purchase your own
wilderness pass.
When you sign up please email me your previous
ski experience before making a payment to the
treasurer.
Meals/snacks/drinks, extra clothing and any
required personal items.
