Itinerary: |
"Keep Calm and Go Skiing"! There is great
early season snow in the Sunshine back country.
The objective, conditions permitting, is Quartz
Ridge and Hill which is the double summit
mountain you see across Sunshine Meadows to the
south of the resort.
This is a great intermediate AT in the alpine
and opportunity to stretch the early season
legs while doing it it partially lift assisted.
A carpool will be available and leaving the
designated location at 6:30 sharp. If you wish
to join a carpool or merely meet at this
location, please be courteous and arrive early
enough to arrange vehicles and gear.
Those who prefer to meet at the event (Sunshine
Village Resort) plan for 8:15 at the gondola
base in front of the ticket windows at the new
fire pit area. Final waiver paperwork will be
completed and then head up the gondola.
Gondola only lift ticket is $38 per person.
A quick regroup at the gondola top, up the
Standish lift, group beacon check, out through
the back country gate and short decent towards
Rock Isle Lake. Toss on the skins and work our
way south towards Quartz with Mt Assiniboine in
the distance. Depending upon conditions we
have a good choice of even planed open faced
skiing, shallow or steep. After working our
way back to Sunshine, we will follow the "ski
out" back to the gondola base and parking lot -
with grins on our faces!
