Itinerary: |
Skiing is a dance and the mountain always
leads. In this case, if history repeats itself
Kootenay Pass is sure to lead with some great
early season skiing. I did this trip in
December ’15 and it was a superb weekend.
Recognize this trip? I gave a heads up to the
originator that I planned to hijack his
logistic….”I’m glad my trips are getting some
traction” was the reply. Here is the plan.
Friday: Depart early and drive to Kootenay
Pass, about 6 hours. Ski the rest of the day
and then drive further west about 45 minutes,
overnight at Ymir Hotel. The night’s
entertainment includes the local Hillbilly Jam
and dinner special. Saturday: Up early and
back to the pass for a full day, overnight at
Ymir Hotel. Sunday: Up early again, ski a
part day and then drive back to Calgary. Ymir
Hotel is a cozy, comfortable historic hotel and
a little eclectic. Rates are very reasonable
with shared rooms starting at $30 PP/Night.
Skiing Kootenay Pass is ideal as park your car
and hit the slopes immediately in front of you.

Required Items to Bring: |
AT ski gear. Beacon, shovel, probe and
experience / practice using them. All
conditions clothing. Ymir Hotel offers a very
light breakfast but I would plan to bring
whatever fills you up including lunch too.
Dinner both nights at the hotel.

Notes: |
Do keep in mind this is early season and the
conditions will dictate our ultimate plans.
Participants don’t need to be super star skiers
but capable to ski varied conditions. Be
prepared to participate in decision making and
terrain selection. The plan is to keep the
pace “group appropriate” and mindful of early
season legs. Steady and safe.

Cancellation/Partial Attendance: Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.

Trip Feedback
