The rain and conditions have made us look
south for the weekend, so we figured we would
give Mount Harrison a go, one of the easiest
11'000er's. I have trip beta from
this weekend from a friend for the last two
years. In 2014 there was a bit of snow on
the route and 2015 it was
completely dry, so we are thinking we
should be in the middle of this and good to go.
Since we are going into some unknown
conditions, we will be treating this like an
alpine climb and will bring a rope and some pro
just in case so crampons, ice axe and harness
will be manditory.
We are looking for up to 3 more people to
join us since that's how many we can fit in the
truck. This is not an advanced trip but we
will be moving at a moderate to
quick pace. Don't let that scare you
from signing up, quick just means short breaks
throughout the day.
Day 1
We will meet on the south side of Calgary at
the Summerset-Bridlewood LRT station on
Saturday morning and make our way
towards Fernie. Once in Fernie we will
hang a hard right and head north up the Bull
River Forest Servicery Road to the parking
area. The road should be good as there is
active logging going on from a report in
spring. Drive in is 6-7 hours from
Calgary. Once at the parking we will hike
in to the waterfall bivy, about 2 hours, and
setup for the night.
Day 2
Very early start from our bivy site to
climb harrison. Once we summit with blue
bird skies, we will decend, tear down our bivy
site and drive back to Calgary. This will
be a late night.
