The plan is to head up the parkway and
summit the two 11'000er's of Mount Brazeau and
Mount Warren. This is a pretty big trip
with lots of glacier travel so please
understand your fitness and skill level and
only add yourself to the waitlist if you are
capable of doing the itenery below. This
is our plan based on perfect weather, but we
may need to make adjustments if it gets bad.
Day 0 - Carpool Day
We will leave Calgary around 6:00 pm and
bivy at our vehicles at the trail head.
Those meeting us at the trailhead, its a
4 hour drive and we are planning on hiking at
6:00 am the next morning
Day 1 - 19km (1500m)
Hike in from our cars, about a 6:00 am
start. Traditionally most people bivy at
swan pass but to set us up for Warren, we will
camp higher on the glacier
Day 2 - 17km (1450m)
This is the big day. Super early start
making our way to Mount Warren. This one
may be a stretch but if we make good time and
the group is up for it will will make the easy
traverse over to grab Monkhead Mountain after
summiting Warren.
If the weather looks bad, we will switch day
2 and 3 and do Brazeau this day instead.
If its good, we go for warren
Day 3 - 10km (900m)
Early start to climb Mount Brazeau. If we
make good time and the group is feeling up for
it, we will also grab St. Henry McLeod and
Valad on the way back to the bivy site.
It looks to be like a nice easy alpine
traverse.
Day 4 - 19km (Better be no gain because my
legs will feel like jello!!)
Hike out on hopefully really tired legs and
make the long drive back to Calgary
Shared Gear
We will work out these details close to the
event depending how many people sign up.
Things like stoves, tents, etc...
Notes:
This is a repost of the trip I cancelled due
to weather. We are going to give it a try
again. Priority goes to those who were on
the original trip. We'll pick
participants a couple weeks before the trip.
We also may need to push the trip +/- 1 day
based on the weather so preferably the people
on the trip should have a somewhat flexible
schedule. Since its the long weekend,
hopefully that shoudln't be a problem.
