While the family friendly Wheeler hut trip
tries to figure out how to install car seats
and tune out the sound of screaming children,
we'll be blasting down the road to K- Country.
18+, we're bringing food, beer and foods
high
in saturated fats. The goal is to tour in
Friday night under the cover of stars, have a
beer, spend Saturday exploring the area, get
back to the hut and have beer and a giant
communal meal, and then after a bacon intensive
breakfast make good enough time out on Sunday
that we can detour through Canmore to grab a
burger and brew somewhere.
It's early
season so
our options are a crap shoot. We may bring rock
skis, we may bring ice tools, we may bring
trail runners if things are really terrible. Be
a boyscout, be prepared; we'll discuss
conditions closer to the date.
This trip
is
open to anyone - there's no real avi exposure
on the way in and the trails are groomed part
way. If
you can walk ~10km, you're good to go. You
should still be prepared to be involved in your
own safety decisions, but we'll have
experienced people happy to answer questions.
Required Items to Bring:
Who knows, it's early season. Bank on ski
touring gear (including full avi kit). If
something else is called for you'll get a panic
stricken email from me.
How to Get There:
Carpool Departure Time:
Carpool Location:
Our Lady of the Assumption School
Carpool Directions:
Google's better at explaining than I am.
The trip's a long way out from the posting
date. Plans change, I get that, but if you
think you won't be able to make it, let me know
early so that I can fill your spot and don't
end up eating the hut fees.
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
Trip Feedback If you have any feedback, positive or negative, concerning this trip or any other, we want to hear from you! You can send any feedback you may have to the Section Chair.
