This is pretty much guaranteed to be a brutal,
brutal day. Which means it should be amazing.
The plan is to meet in Canmore at the EEOR
parking lot at 6am. Yep, early. I'm sleeping in
my car somewhere the night before.
First, we're going to scramble up EEOR. Then we
going to scramble DOWN EEOR. Then we're going
to run the Goat Creek Trail to the other side
of the mountain. Then we're going to scramble
up WEOR. Then we're going to scramble back down
WEOR. Then we are going to run back to the EEOR
parking lot along the Rundle Riverside Trail.
The specs - we're looking at something in the
neighbourhood of 2500-3000m of elevation gain
and about 65km of distance covered if I'm
google-mapping this right. This will be a
frickin huge day. You need to be able to move
pretty quickly, for a lot of hours.
Not everyone is super confident of their
ability to do the full buffet of suffering, so
we're going to stash a bailout car on the Banff
side where Katherine will likely tap out (where
exactly we stash a vehicle remains to be
determined, but that's a tomorrow problem) - so
you don't need to be certain you can do the
full thing - just certain you can do EEOR and
then run the 22km of trails to Banff.
If it makes sense, we'll split into two pace
groups.
When you sign up - please indicate if you think
you're likely to do the complete sufferfest
buffet or if you're more likely down for just
an appetizer sized portion of misery.
Please feel free to carpool to the start, but
Katherine and I will already be out there so we
won't be taking part in the carpool.
