Itinerary:

Feeling Adventurous!? Not quite willing to admit the ski season is waning? Well, Let's strap our skis to the fat bikes and find some snow!

The plan is to ride approx. 18km past the hwy 40 winter-gate to the Pass, approx. 500m in gain to an elevation of 2203m. Then, depending on how we feel, either ski Pocaterra or Ptarmigan. Then ride back. This will be an early start so we can be out of avalanche terrain by approximately 11:30am.

This will be a long and physically challenging day. Travel conditions on the hwy will greatly affect our objective(s) and our beta tells us that we will be dealing with snow and ice. Be prepared for the possibility of a nasty slog with no skiing. Plan B includes a 13km ride to Rae parking lot to explore the terrain there. Plan C involves sun tanning/ alcoholic consumption meters from the gate

Be prepared to make group decisions regarding avalanche terrain & snowpack instabilities.
