Looking for two people to join the four of us
on a trip to Tunnel Creek hut outside of
Fernie. We will be driving out Friday night and
skiing Sat, Sun and Mon. We have a place to
stay (for free) Friday night.
The weather is warm right now, so our
objectives will depend on temperature and avi
risk.
You need to have at least AST 1, some
experience in the back-country, and a
reasonable fitness level. Please email us a
brief resume of your experience and what skiing
you have done this year.
The hut cost is $35 a person for both nights.
You will be responsible for your own breakfast
and lunch, but we will be doing some type of
potluck for dinner (to be sorted out after you
sign-up)
Required Items to Bring:
Skis, ski boots, poles, skins, warm layers,
hat, gloves, food for three days, sunglasses,
flashlight,
bag for dirty boots, cash for drivers, Parks
Pass;
items for a night at the hostel.
Recommended Items to Bring:
First Aid Kit, emergency supplies, camera,
Thermos, GPS/map/compass
How to Get There:
Event Directions:
Feb 19- Leave Calgary after work and drive to
Fernie
Feb 20- early start. Ski up to the hut, drop
our heavy stuff and then yo-yo the rest of the
day
Feb 21- ski around the hut
Feb 22- Ski around the hut in the morning, then
ski out in the afternoon. Drive back to Calgary
that evening
*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
