How to suck less and be more better at…. is
a monthly series designed to help facilitate
ongoing peer learning. Speakers are volunteers
who feel somewhat knowledgeable and are willing
to help others achieve basic knowledge in an
area- they are by no means experts, and may in
fact not be the most knowledgeable person in
attendance. The goal is to help improve the
knowledge and skill level of all members who
participate on mountain trips through regular
skill updates. DIscussion and participant input
is welcomed during sessions.
Julie likes to bike a lot and doesn't like to pay people for basic repairs, or buy new parts because all the grit on her bike wore things out quickly! Basic bike cleaning can help your bike run longer without repairs and some basic repair skills can keep you going on the trails, while saving you an easy $30
This session will cover: Changing a tire, checking and changing break pads, setting shock/fork pressure and basic pre-ride checks. It will also cover all the things outside of your chain that you should definitely clean regularly, but maybe don't. We will also discuss what a basic trail repair kit should look like, so that you don't get stuck walking out!
Email Julie if you have specific questions or issues you want to discuss. She is not a mechanic, so no promises that your question can be answered, but we can give it a shot.
