Itinerary:
For anyone not looking to go skiing this weekend or be getting cold feet at the ice review, you can still get out and enjoy a brisk uphill scramble in K-country. So come on out and lets work on our winter scrambling skills and play on what becomes rocky terrain with snow in all the right places. Opal Ridge offers 1,000 meters of unrelenting EG to the fine 2,600 meter high summit with superb views. While we may have a bit of snow to work through on the lower 150 meters of EG the rest should be much more forgiving and mostly blown free of snow. If this sparks you interest and you are keen to tromp up a steep slope with intermittent rocky slabs, offering some fun scrambling in what looks to be a cold - 20 C day in sun and cloud then this trip is for you. It won't be a race to the top, but we are not looking to doodle either, as it is better to move continually and stay warm doing so.
Required Items to Bring:
warm layered clothing, wind jacket, toque, neck tube, gloves, and mitts (take extra along), gaiters, sun glasses, micro spikes or crampons, ice axe.

Recommended Items to Bring:
trekking pole, hot drink and enough food to energize you

How to Get There:
Carpool Departure Time:   08:00 AM
Carpool Location:
Carpool Directions:   Usual spot on sough side of the Transcanada near the west end of town.

Cancellation/Partial Attendance:
Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!

*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons.
