Itinerary:
This is a beginner trip and part of the ACC STICKSSS program. Anybody can sign up for it,but preference will be give to former participants of the STICKSSS program. The goal is to get people out on an easy multi-pitch ice climb. Possible destinations would be Rogans Gully or Urs hole on Cascade, however, there are other possible destinations in K-Country or in the Bow Valley -I will post this once I know what the conditions are. There I will lead everything so you can get used to something else than just top roping, see how anchors are built in the real ice climbing world and feel what it means to climb up all day without getting always lowered in between. I also will try to answer any questions you might have, and hopefully find some time to practise V-threads, placing screws and building anchors on ice. The goal of the day will be not reaching the top (hopefully we still will top out), but to get you an introduction of multi pitch ice climbing. If the conditions will not allow for a multi pitch climb that day, I will change the destination and we go top-roping somewhere, but still try to practise some of the things you need to know for multi pitch ice climbing. So far I can only take two other persons, but please sign up regardless of the number of people on the waiting list, as I will try to get at least another trip-leader to join in an take two more people out. As I most likely never climbed with any of you on ice, please send me a short description about your ice climbing abilities and things you want to get out of this trip to link_tobias(at)web.de so I can pick our climb accordingly. More specific information will be send out once I picked the participants.
