Itinerary: |
The plan is to get some great turns which is what
this area is known for. We will do the traverse in
four days. We will start at Bombi Summit, and exit
at Porto Rice Rd near Ymir, staying at the Grassy
Mountain Hut, Steed Hut, and finally the Copper
Mountain Hut on the way. The total distance is
approximately 45 km with 2500m elevation gain, and
2800m elevation loss. Further details on the
traverse can be found at:
http://backcountryskiingcanada.com/index.php?
p=page&page_id=Bonningtons Information on the huts
can be found at:
http://kootenaymountaineeringclub.ca/ The cost of
the huts is $35/person. We will leave Calgary
Thursday Mar 24th and return the night of Mar
28th. We will spend one night in a motel somewhere
between Calgary and Nelson. Meals will be
discussed amongst the group at later date. We will
be using a taxi service to shuttle cars. The
approximate cost will be $30.00/person. The cars
will be left at the exit point.

If you cancel from the trip you might not get your
money back.
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
