Itinerary: |
Goal is to find a fine powder stash to get a
proper
dose of early season exhaustion. Given the big
snow
dumps over the last few days, the choice will
likely
be bigger than the usual Highwood Pass. Will
aim to
stay relatively close to Calgary and pick a
location
that maximizes fun whilst staying out of
trouble.
Plan: Head out early enough to start skinning
up
around sunrise ahead of "crowds", do a big run
or yo
yo's until tired or all good snow gone, go
home. If
Avi risk should be high below treeline I'll
pull the
plug, otherwise there should always be a safe
option
("worst" case Black Prince Tree Triangle).
Overall
focus is to have fun and ski - if choice is
between
doing a summit with windcrust or yo yo's in
powder
then the choice will be the latter :)
This is not a beginner trip, you need to have
at
least AST 2 and a digital transceiver with 2+
antennas to join. Please send me an email
confirming
both. Expect 1,000 meter vert+.

Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
