Okay, okay, okay, I've had it. Seriously, I'm
done with these 'climbing', 'running' and
'shoulder' seasons. It's all dumb.
Ski season is the only season that matters.
Here's the plan: head up the Icefields Parkway,
go ski the Observation and Cirque glaciers over
two days while staying at Rampart. (Lake Louise
and Mosquito Creek are full)
Yes, it's 'early season'.
Yes, you should bring rock skis
Yes, we'll probably end up walking a whole
bunch for some marginal glacier skiing.
Yes, there is glacier travel so you should
bring full glacier rescue kit.
Yes, you should bring beer for Saturday night
Yes, we'll do some sort of potluck
This is NOT a beginner friendly trip - I have
zero familiarity with the glaciers and am
working off second hand beta - we could
absolutely end up with someone in a hole, or
injured. Seriously, I am making ZERO decisions
for others on this trip - WE will make
decisions as a party.
*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
