Itinerary: |
This course is designed to help participants gain experience
with a guide in managing terrain safely and efficiently.
Have you ever been out in the backcountry on a day when
whumpfs and shooting cracks are plaguing your approach
leaving you wondering how to move around with confidence?
Often these days come after a storm when the Hazard rating is
Considerable, High or even Extreme and the powder is very
tempting! We will cover lots of terrain on this course so you
need to be in good physical condition and participants will have
the opportunity to lead both up and downhill. Participants will
learn how to manage a group, how to use terrain to your
advantage and to hone your mountain sense. We will also learn
how to limit exposure to dangerous terrain on days when there
may be dire consequences while still getting some great turns.
The cost of this course will be $50.00 and you will be
added to the course once payment is received and completion
of AST1 is confirmed. To submit payment:
- Send e-
transfer to treasurer@acccalgary.com
- Follow that e-transfer

Cancellation/Partial Attendance: Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
