Itinerary:
The plan is to take whatever navigation gear we have to the field and work through problems. The session will be informal, with the topics driven by participants. I want this to be hands-on so we can all become more familiar with our gear. We will most likely be in Wind Valley, south of Canmore, or an alternate location if conditions require.
Required Items to Bring:
Hiking gear, food, water, the usual. Be prepared for off-trail travel / bushwacking. Appropriate clothing/boots for off-trail travel.

Recommended Items to Bring:
Baseplate compass, GPS receiver, altimeter, stopwatch/wristwatch, pencil, 1:50000 map including Wind Valley (eg: Gem Trek "Canmore and Kananaskis Village)

How to Get There:
Event Directions:   Carpool from Calgary, LEAVING at 8:00 AM. Plan to be there by 7:45 AM. Let me know if you want to meet in the field.
Carpool Departure Time:   08:00 AM
Carpool Location:   The recycling bins by #1 Highway and Stoney Trail
Carpool Directions:   West on #1 from Calgary, exit right to West Valley Rd, spin around the roundabout, under the highway, then back toward Calgary.

Click this link to the carpool location map (the "Rock Rage" location).

Notes:
In case of high demand, preference will be given to Section trip leaders or aspiring leaders.

Cancellation/Partial Attendance:
Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!

*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
