Itinerary:
The weather is getting colder and ski season is upon us! It's time to get ready!! Shoulder season is training season! This "backcountry bootcamp" will focus on exercises to get us fit for ski season. Sessions will be held every Wednesday evening for about 9 weeks. You will obviously get maximum benefit from attending all sessions, but that's not required - just come along whenever you can. In early December, participants have the option to test their fitness by participating in the Vert180 at COP (a 3 hr ski mountaineering race, for individuals or teams). Signing up online is really appreciated so I know how many people to expect at any given session. Sessions may include: Running (warm-up, fartlek, intervals, hill reps) Plyometrics (e.g. split jumps) Weight-training (mainly body weight) Resistance band(e.g. hip adductor) Core exercises Squats, burpees etc
Required Items to Bring:
Running shoes and clothing. Headlamp. Layers, toque and gloves when it starts to get chilly. Mat (a piece of yellow foam sleeping pad works well) for when the ground gets snowy/wet ENTHUSIASM!

Recommended Items to Bring:
Water bottle Snacks

How to Get There:
Event Directions:   This park is easy to get to, being right off 16th Ave and just one block off the river pathway for the cyclists. There is ample free parking on the South side of the road (right next to the park). Just don't park on the North side of the road, which is permit only. We'll meet by the playground. It's a great space for our exercises, and we are a short run to Edworthy for warm up and hills.

Cancellation/Partial Attendance:
Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!

Cancellation Policy
If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
