Sport climbing in the Ghost area - most likely STD wall.
Area covers a wide range of grades from 5.8 to 5.10c with
many in the 5.10a/b range. Will give preference to participants
who lead sport routes, but we will put up top ropes as well.
The Ghost requires access by 4X4 or high ground clearance
vehicle. I will have room for two extra people in my SUV, but
any extras will need a proper vehicle. There is a shallow river
crossing on foot to STD, so you will need spare shoes or
sandals.
Required Items to Bring:
helmet, harness, rock shoes, belay device. If you have a rope
and draws, it's best to bring them, especially if you are
planning on leading. A sling with a couple lockers and a couple
extra biners would be helpful too.
Recommended Items to Bring:
Guidebook, food, water, sunscreen, sunglasses, bug spray,
wind breaker, shoes for river crossing
How to Get There:
Event Directions:
For people interested in a carpool, we can meet at Our Lady of
the Assumption school, at the north end of Sarcee.
*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
