Background Info
Ski up towards Burstall Pass, but veer right to go around the flanks of Mt. Birdwood through some magnificent alpine terrain, over Smut's Pass, and return via the Commonwealth Valley to complete a horseshoe. You should know how to attach your skis to your pack as with current conditions a short section of bootpacking may be required on one slope. This trip is about 18km and 1000m elevation gain. We may do a short additional lap or two of 250m if by some miracle the snow is actually good.
REQUIREMENTS AST1 or AST2 training, Transciever, Shovel, Probe, SKI setup, and appropriate fitness for the size of day specified above.
