Itinerary:
This 4 day Ski Mountaineering Course will be offered by ACMG Mountain Guide Matt Mueller & ACMG Assistant Ski Guide Chris Girard. The focus will be learning the basics of safe Ski Mountaineering with a curriculum focused on trip & objective planning, climbing technique for ski mountaineering, navigation, route finding, decision making and track setting. The plan is for the format to be very hands on with lots of climbs and tours to put skills into practice! The course will be based out of Bow Hut April 25-26th and Balfour Hut on the 27th. The first two days will be skills intensive, day three will (conditions allowing involve a climb; Mt. Balfour or other) and day four will include more skills training as well as safe travel back out to the cars at Num Ti Jah. Price: $390 includes 4 days of Guide led training and three hut nights thanks to the Club's favorable guide relationships. For any questions/feedback or if you’re just really stoked, feel free to drop Matt Marshall & Joey St-Pierre an email.
Required Items to Bring:
A full gear list will be provided to those chosen for the course.

Notes:
This will not be an introductory course. Basci glacier travel, crevasse rescue and avalanche training will be prerequisites for this course. These courses are offered separately by the Section. These skills will be reviewed, but recent mountaineering training/experience and at least an AST1/AST Refresher with recent backcountry ski experience will be prerequisites for participation. Participants will also be required to be at least strong intermediate skiers able to ski in varying terrain and snow conditions. An application process will be in effect and participants will be chosen accordingly. Upon being accepted and moved from the wait list, participants will be required to pay the $390 course fee. Do not pay the fee before being getting your spot confirmed. To pay, send an INTERAC e-Transfer to the ACC Treasurer using the Treasurer@ACCCalgary.ca email address. Please also send the e-Transfer password to the treasurer in a seperate email and a payment confirmation email to the trip coordinators.

Cancellation/Partial Attendance:
Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!

*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
