Itinerary:
Paula Corbeil and I have coordinated with an Alpine Guide to provide supplemental instruction specifically focused on terrain and route choices pertaining to avalanche terrain. This will be a two day instruction with an overnight in Lake Louise at the hostel. AST 1 and 2 are prerequisites for this event. The objective is to improve route finding awareness and selection for alpine touring and skiing. Minimal time will be spent on other related skills (eg. transceiver search, digging, etc.). There will be six participants, there is currently one spot still available. Cost for the two days will be $300. Participants must make their own accommodation arrangements in Lake Louise for Saturday, January 17.
Required Items to Bring:
Backcountry skiing equipment and avalanche safety equipment; transceiver, shovel, probe. Appropriate winter personal gear and clothing

How to Get There:
Carpool Departure Time:   06:30 AM
Carpool Location:   Stoney Trail and Hwy 1 recycle bins

Cancellation/Partial Attendance:
Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!

*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
