We are back for another year! Join us on our
second annual weekend of ski adventures in
Nelson B.C. Be prepared for another year of
suffering. Do you think you have what it takes
to cook your food in a full kitchen?, sleep in
a heated building?, yo-yo in beautiful pow? If
you do, you should consider signing up for this
super duper hard core trip!
AST1 and ability to assess your own avalanche
risk is required. Decisions will be group based
and everyone will be expected to contribute to
the decision-making, even if it is just a
"sure, I'm ok with that". Preference will be
given to new and aspiring trip leaders.
However, the ratio of experience will need to
be kept realistic.
The plan is to leave Friday afternoon and stay
near Cranbrook. We will likely ski in Kootenay
Pass on Saturday before heading to Nelson that
night. We will be based out of the lovely
Dancing Bear Inn and will find yo-yo
destinations each day before heading home on
Tuesday, Feb 17 (you will need to get this day
off work). Note that this is over Valentines
day, so be prepared to buy extra presents for
your partner if you are leaving them at home.
Going to aim for 2-3 cars. We will aim for 2
food groups where each will cook one dinner and
clean afterwards. Breakfast and lunches are a
free for all. The 3rd night will be a pub night
in town.
Cost will be ~$150 for hostel and hotel, plus
gas and dinner. Presents for Valentines day are
extra.
Required Items to Bring:
Clothing, skis, skins, poles, boots, avalanche
transceiver, probe and shovel/hoe, maps and
route descriptions of area. This is not a
complete list.
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
Trip Feedback If you have any feedback, positive or negative, concerning this trip or any other, we want to hear from you! You can send any feedback you may have to the Section Chair.
Registration for this event closed on Friday, February 06, 2015 at 05:45 PM.
