Itinerary:
This trip is for people who have done quite a bit of backcountry skiing but have not ventured onto glaciers. We start at Peyto Lake on the Icefields Parkway and traverse south to the Wapta Icefields. We stay Saturday night at the Peyto Hut. On Sunday we will climb one of the Wapta peaks (weather permitting) and then descend past Bow Hut. We'll exit via Bow Lake to the Highway. There is a mandatory crevasse rescue evening associated with this trip on Wednesday February 18. Please register separately for the crevasse rescue evening - it's on the calendar. People under age 18 are welcome on this trip BUT they must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Required Items to Bring:
Glacier gear; Backcountry ski gear; I'll send a detailed packing list a couple of weeks before the trip.

Recommended Items to Bring:
Lots of layers - weather can vary between really hot and really cold in a single weekend.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:   Start just north of Bow Summit on Hwy 93. Finish at Bow Lake.
Carpool Departure Time:   06:00 AM
Carpool Location:   Recycle bins at SW corner of Hwy 1 and Stoney Trail

Notes:
1. There will be 3 leaders and other 12 participants on the trip - so we will have 3 ropes of 5 on the icefield. 2. You MUST attend the Crevasse Rescue Practice on Wed Feb 18, 2009 - please use the online calendar to register for the practice.

Cancellation/Partial Attendance:
Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!

Cancellation Policy
If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.

Trip Feedback
If you have any feedback, positive or negative, concerning this trip or any other, we want to hear from you! You can send any feedback you may have to the Section Chair.
