We changed our Nelson ski area objective due to
poor ski conditions to a..Wapta Traverse! let's
see what this one holds for us!
AST1 and ability to assess your own avalanche risk
is required, AST2 a plus! Decisions will be group
based and
everyone will be expected to contribute.
Preference will be given to new and
aspiring trip leaders. However, the ratio of
experience will need to be kept realistic.
The plan is to leave Thursday evening and stay
near Cranbrook, the most romantic
city on the #3. We will likely ski in Kootenay
Pass on Friday before heading to Nelson that
night. We will be based out of the Dancing Bear
Inn and will find yo-yo destinations each day
before heading home on Tuesday March 3 (you will
need to get this day off work). Return drive does
take at
least 7 hours so no skiing that day but..we should
be pretty pooped by then anyway Ha ha!
Cost will be $29/p.person p.night ($145 for 5
nights at the Dancing Bear + 1 night in Cranbrook
(price Tbd) + shared food & gas. Questionnaire
will
be sent to folks on
the wait-list and answers will be reviewed before
acceptance on the trip. Payment
information will only be sent to people accepted.
Two
dorms have been booked so 1 male dorm for 8, 1
female dorm for 8. We will organized food
and carpool later.
Required Items to Bring:
Skis, skins, poles, boots, avalanche transceiver,
probe and shovel. Complete glacier travel gear.
Detailed list will be sent later.
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
Trip Feedback If you have any feedback, positive or negative, concerning this trip or any other, we want to hear from you! You can send any feedback you may have to the Section Chair.
