This is one-day course designed to
introduce the basic concepts of drytooling—the use
of ice axes and crampons on rock in a winter
setting. Topics covered will include safety
considerations, leashless climbing techniques,
various pick placements, crampon footwork,
efficient movement and pump-avoidance strategies.
The Playground is an area developed solely for
drytooling practice that hosts well-bolted routes
from M5 to M10.
Prerequisite: No previous ice or mixed experience
is necessary for this course. However, some
