Rogers Pass Motel Mayhem is back! Last year we
had three killer weekends in the pass. We skied
hip deep pow while everyone else in the pass
fought crud. How? Because we know how to read a
weather forecast, we know how to read a contour
map and we go where the snow is, not where
'everyone goes'.
So, back to the Pass we go; bring your snorkel.
This is January in Rogers Pass. Basically - we
have another guaranteed weekend of killer snow.
Just like the past three trips, the game plan
is to do some motel accessed skiing in Rogers
Pass.
We'll be leaving from Our Lady of the
Assumption School at 6pm and then staying in a
motel in Golden for the next two nights while
bagging turns by day. This trip is friendly to
a broad range of experience levels; you don't
have to be a great skier, but you gotta be fit.
You should be prepared for ~1500m days (not
monster days, but we're not going to be taking
it super easy either) and you should be
comfortable being involved in your safety
decisions. We'll most likely be staying at the
Brookside Motel - my home away from home - and
depending on numbers, you should be prepared to
pay up to about $75 for the two nights
combined. There's a kitchenette so we'll do a
communal meal on Saturday night which will
probably include a slow cooker and whatever
you, the aspirant participant feel like
bringing.
Required Items to Bring:
It's a motel based ski touring trip, if you
don't know what to bring, this isn't the trip
for you. Bring stuff to ski with. Bring Avi
stuff. Bring stuff to eat.
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
Trip Feedback If you have any feedback, positive or negative, concerning this trip or any other, we want to hear from you! You can send any feedback you may have to the Section Chair.
Registration for this event closed on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 12:00 AM.
