Itinerary: |
Sorry- had to change the date as it conflicted with the Calgary
section monthly meeting! Oops! Trying to equalize your anchor?
Thinking about putting in more
so-so trad pieces to make a stronger anchor? Think again! Come
learn the new thought on anchor building and equalization (hint-
your anchor is never equalized anyhow- so stop trying).
I'm looking to share some of the information I learned from Cyril,
Matt and Nick on this year's sumer leadership course. Expect a
fairly informal night, with some initial demonstration and then the
opportunity to practice/discuss as the group wishes.
This will not be an in depth anchors course,
more of an overview of new concepts within anchor building and
quick tricks/tips on efficiency when switching over at a belay
station.
|
Required Items to Bring: |
Warm clothes and a headlamp.
|
|
Recommended Items to Bring: |
Items with which to practice anchor building (long accessory cord
and/or long slings, a few trad pieces, several locking beaners and
several non-lockers) if you want to practice different methods of
favouring the strong piece slightly.

How to Get There: |
Event Directions: |
|
4105 Montgomery View NW. Use the Edworthy Park parking lot at
Shaganappi Trail and Bowness Road.
We'll meet beside Angel's Cafe, then head over the bridge into the
park. If it rains, we'll hide out in the shelters to practice.

Cancellation/Partial Attendance: Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
