This is NOT a guided trip. Participants will be
added 2 at a time so that we can climb in even
numbers. You will only be considered if you have
intermediate alpine rock/mountaineering experience
(see below).
Monday Aug 4th: meet at carpool at 4pm (details to
be
forwarded to participants).
Tues to Thurs: climb in groups of 2; objectives
will be based on ability level.
Friday Aug 8th: Hike out early and drive back to
Calgary
Pre-requisites: Participants will be required to
send a list of objectives that they have completed
that are similar in difficulty to objectives they
are looking to climb in the Bugaboos. Because we
are climbing
in pairs, the minimum ability that is required is
that at least one person in the party can lead
competently and efficiently on glacier and
sustained 5th class rock and the second needs to
also be able to climb efficiently, give a safe
lead belay; in addition all participants must have
rock rescue and crevasse rescue. Preference will
be given to participants that have already climbed
in the Bugaboos before (but is not a requirement.)
We will all be staying at the hut. I will let you
know if you are approved on the trip and if so you
will need to email transfer $100 (4 nights) for
hut fees before you are added on the trip (no
exceptions; there has been issues on recent trips
on participants settling funds so we are doing
this in advance).
Gear list will be forwarded and discussed with
trip participants. Hope you can make it out !!
Required Items to Bring:
40L+ pack, mountaineering boots, ice axe, crampons,
rock climbing gear, appropriate layers based on
weather forecast, sleeping bag, toileteries,
earplugs, food for 5 days, water bottle or
camelback, sunglasses, helmet, harness, belay
device, rock protection (full rack of cams and
nuts + 10-12 alpine draws), emergency bivy gear
(siltarp, extra layers). Further gear list will
be discussed with participants.
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
Trip Feedback If you have any feedback, positive or negative, concerning this trip or any other, we want to hear from you! You can send any feedback you may have to the Section Chair.
Registration for this event closed on Sunday, August 03, 2014 at 05:00 PM.
