All – Barry Blanchard will *NOT* be doing the slide show tonight – he is sick as a dog and sends his apologies.
Instead, we will be showing one of the Hans Gmoser films, of mountaineering and skiing in the Canadian Rockies. Hans (1932 – 2006) was an avid mountaineer and backcountry skier; he led an expedition to climb the East Ridge of Mt. Logan in 1959, and the Wickersham Wall on Denali in 1963. In 1961, he climbed a difficult new route on the south face of Mt.Louis. He is best known, however, as the principal pioneer of heli-skiing, and along those lines, he spent a decade making ten feature-length films of skiing and mountaineering in the Canadian Rockies, which he showed to audiences all over North America. Chic Scott and Marg Saul, among others, recently undertook the massive project to convert those films to digital media (a project which the ACC-Calgary Section sponsored in part) and (as of last week!) those films are now available. So we’re going to show one tonight!!! We’ll pick one that has both climbing and skiing aspects – so grab a beer, sit back and enjoy!
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
Trip Feedback If you have any feedback, positive or negative, concerning this trip or any other, we want to hear from you! You can send any feedback you may have to the Section Chair.
